The Charlotte County Economic Development Office (EDO) is a department within the Charlotte County
Board of County Commissioners. Its mission is to encourage the recruitment of diversified high impact
industry to the county, to create high skill, high wage jobs, and to help diversify the economy and tax base.
EDO staff includes the EDO Director, the Redevelopment Manager, Business Development Specialist, Economic
Research Analyst and the Administrative Services Coordinator. The EDO serves as staff to Enterprise
Charlotte--the advisory board to the Board of County Commissioners on economic development issues--and to
the Charlotte County Industrial Development Authority.
In fulfilling its mission, the EDO is involved in a myriad of activities such as business recruitment,
expansion and retention, demographic and market data support to the community and prospective businesses,
maintaining this website, disseminating important publications, various business and civic events such as
legislative luncheons and business awards, and many more.
The Charlotte County Industrial Development Authority was established in 2006 to foster and encourage industrial and business development in Charlotte County through the use of Industrial Development Revenue Bonds (IDRBs).
Enterprise Charlotte Economic Council, Inc. called the Economic Council, for short, is a non-profit 501(c)6 investor driven organization which was established to partner with the Charlotte County Economic Development Office in recruiting diversified, high impact industry to Charlotte County and to provide a funding vehicle for businesses to invest in the long-term vitality of Charlotte County. The Economic Council is governed by a Board of Directors, meets on a monthly basis and is not subject to Florida Sunshine Laws.
The Enterprise Charlotte Foundation Inc. is a charitable 501(c)3 organization which was established to provide a funding vehicle to perform educational and scientific work in support of the Charlotte County Economic Development Office. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, meets on a quarterly basis and operates under the Florida Sunshine Laws.
Charlotte County EDO partners with Enterprise Florida, Inc. a not-for-profit partnership between businesses and government leaders and the principal economic development organization for the State of Florida.
