Charlotte County has sixteen Area Colleges and Universities within driving distance offering undergraduate and master degree programs in the arts, sciences, engineering, nursing and medicine. Two schools, Florida Gulf Coast University and Edison State College, are within the Charlotte County limits. Additionally, there are schools that offer associate degrees. |

within Charlotte County. |

The Public School System has 5 LEEDS certified Schools in total. Charlotte High School was awarded
GOLD Certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as a LEED (Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design) School. Charlotte High is the first conventional full campus (over 1500 students)
public high school in the southeast region of the United States to attain such distinction under LEED
for Schools 2.0. |
