Government Information

Charlotte County Government was established in 1921. The county is located on the Gulf of Mexico midway between Sarasota to the north and Fort Myers to the south.

Charlotte County Government is proud to have achieved a Green Local Government Silver certification.

Punta Gorda Municipal Government is the only city municipality in Charlotte County. Located directly on Charlotte Harbor, it stretches to the county's southern border.

Florida was admitted into the Union in 1845 making it the 27th state. The Florida State Government consists of the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives, both of which reside in the state's capital of Tallahassee.
