Transportation Information

Major Highways - Charlotte County has four State Highways, two Federal Highways and one Federal Interstate running through the area. Many of our industrial parks have direct access to I-75, the north-south interstate servicing the western part of Florida.

There are numerable TRUCKING COMPANIES operating out of Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda available to move goods and freight long or short distances.

There are five INTERNATIONAL AREA AIRPORTS within 200 miles, including Southwest Florida International Airport, in Fort Myers, 47 miles from the center of Port Charlotte, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, Tampa International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Miami International Airport.

The Charlotte County area also has two REGIONAL AREA AIRPORTS one of which is in Punta Gorda, FL and the other in Naples, FL. The Punta Gorda Airport can accommodate larger corporate jets and has commercial airline service to several large US metropolitan cities.

Within a driving distance of less than 200 miles, there are four MAJOR AREA SEAPORTS . The closest, with a driving distance of 60 miles, is the Port of Manatee. The Port has been undergoing renovations and additions in preparation of the opening of the Panama Canal.

Charlotte County has multiple WAREHOUSES located in the county and one FOREIGN TRADE ZONE within the Enterprise Charlotte Airport Park (ECAP), under the Charlotte County Airport Authority's jurisdiction.

The four major carriers, FedEX, UPS, DHL and the United States Postal Service, provide overnight express service to Charlotte County.
